Company Magazine's 50 Books to Read Before You Die

I love that one of my favourite magazines is encouraging readers to shut down their computers, turn off their phones and pick up a book. Company magazine have provided a list on their website of "50 books to read before you die"

As mentioned in previous posts I am a organisation enthusiast and naturally adore lists! I wanted to see how I stacked up and will check off books I've read and plan to read that are on the list. So let's get started. The key I will use is:

[ ] = Not read
[-] = Own, but not read

Results: 9/50

Not bad. I've read almost 20% of this list and have a few on my to-be-read pile. I really enjoy reading through book lists like this as it gives me new ideas about what to read next.

Let me know how you stack up, I'd love to hear which books you've read that are on this list and what you think about them!

  1. I only scored seven! Very surprised you haven't read '1984'! I only read it at the end of last year and I couldn't believe I waited so long. I think I will read through these as well. :)

    1. I've been wanted to read 1984 for some time. I saw a beautiful orange penguin classic version of it too, and really regret not buying it! x

  2. I've read 7 so far. Loved The Book Thief, The Glass Castle, The Kite Runner, Twilight and The Help. The Hunger Games was very good but I felt the next two in the series were just too depressing. Sarah's Key was compelling but VERY, VERY sad. Lori

    1. That's what I'm using it for too. This seems like a good list to look back to when I'm on my next book buying spree!

  4. Ooh I've read 16. Some of the ones that I haven't read are ones that I really wouldn't think about reading though. Read The Time Traveler's Wife quite recently and loved it! Also really liked The Book Thief and The Help. Lord of the Flies takes me back to GCSE!

    1. I read Of Mice and Men for GCSE instead. I've got The Time Traveler's Wife, The Book Thief and The Help, I just haven't gotten around to starting them yet. :)

  5. I've read 17 of these and own about 8 more. It's an interesting list - usually these things are just full of the same old classics, but this is something a bit different!
